In June 2006 we visited Hokkaido, Japan's northern-most island, travelling all around the southern part of the island.

In the back country beyond Nice is the Le Train des Pignes which in 1994 was devastated by a terrible flood - it seemed for a while that the line would close for ever. Read a story about it.
In March 2005, I happened to be in London on the last day the bus route 19 was operated by Routemasters.
And that same weekend, we visited the Routemasters' Picnic (not the official name of course) at the Cobham Bus Museum.
When I was about twelve, I used to travel around the London bus system on Red Rover tickets, exploring distant, mysterious places like Bexleyheath and Walthamstow.

Since there didn't seem to be another one, I've created the IAS Home Page, for a bit of PDP-11 nostalgia.
Over the years, I've accumulated various principles for success (don't take them too seriously).
